Who we are


Suzette Breeden

Suzette worked in the education sector for fifteen years before studying for a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Level Four at Lambeth College. Suzette works with women who are victims of Domestic Abuse on a one to one basis and has worked at Sutton Women’s Centre. Suzette is a Facilitator of the Into The Light Ten Week Psycho-Education Course and is also a Facilitator at the Into The Light Workshops. She is passionate about supporting and empowering women. Suzette is a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.


Sadie Cissell

Studied for her Diploma and Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy in London and has worked in several counselling services including West London Counselling Service. Sadie has also trained as a Trauma specialist with Sensorimotor Therapy and EMDR. Sadie has also been involved in children’s and schools work and has set up several community based projects including a women’s support project in Fulham. Sadie also works in a Loss and Bereavement Charity. She is a Registered Accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

She is also a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society www.ncps.com. Sadie is a Facilitator of the Into The Light Ten Week CourseOne to One Counsellor and is the Into The Light Workshop Supervisor. She is also a Supervisor at several counselling services including at NAPAC the National Association for People Abused in Childhood and RASASC the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre. Sadie supervises youth teams involving working with child exploitation and safe guarding. She has her own counselling, supervision and training service www.sadiecissellcounselling.com. Sadie is a Director of Into The Light Community Interest Company.


Sophie Clarke

Sophie has a BA and Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from the Metanoia Institute and University of Middlesex. She is an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She has a private practice in south London and has also worked with adults in one to one and group settings at the Wimbledon Guild, Balham Community Counselling Service and West London Action for Children. Sophie is a regular presenter and Facilitator at Into The Light Workshops. She offers counselling to survivors and facilitates Into the Light’s Ten Week Psycho-educational Course in a one to one setting.


Cheryl Freedman

Cheryl has a Diploma and BA in Person-centred Counselling from Metanoia Institute in London, and a previous degree in Psychology. She has worked as a counsellor for adults in community services in both East London, and West London. She has also worked with young people with developmental disabilities as a student mentor. She is a regular Facilitator at the Into The Light workshops. She is a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).


Kasia Jędrzejewska

Kasia has been working as a Polish Interpreter for the last ten years within public services and NHS. She has been studying at Sutton College and achieved Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative) Level 4. Kasia has been volunteering with Sutton Women Centre as a Counsellor supporting women experiencing domestic violence. Kasia is an Into the Light Workshop Facilitator and Presenter. She is also a one to one counsellor at Into The Light and a Facilitator for the Into The Light Women Survivors Group Psycho-Educational Course. She is also qualified to facilitate the “Own Your Life” Programme for women suffering from domestic abuse. Kasia is a Registered Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).


Leasa Merrill

Leasa is an experienced counsellor having worked at Community Counselling Service. Leasa has a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Level Four and is a Registered Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is currently working as a High Intensity CBT Therapist and undergoing training within the NHS in Kent.  Leasa is an Into The Light Workshop Facilitator and is also a Director of Into The Light Community Interest Company.


Rebecca Mitchell

One of the original co-founders of Into The Light. She started the project because having been a victim of sexual abuse herself she wanted to provide a place in her community of hope and strength. Rebecca trained at Metanoia Institute, City University and Westminster Pastoral Foundation and has qualifications in One to One Counselling and Group Work Facilitation.

She is an Accredited and Registered Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). She is also a Member of the BACP Private Practise Division as well as the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) Rebecca has run Into the Light programmes since 1993 and has facilitated them in various counselling services in London, in addition to training other facilitators to run the groups. She has also worked effectively with victims of domestic violence and has sat on the Management Committee of Survivors UK – a service that supports men who have experienced sexual abuse.

Rebecca has had articles published in several publications on Sexual Abuse and related topics including the BACP magazines “Therapy Today”, “The Independent Practitioner”, The “BACP Private Practise Journal” and the Mental Health Site Mental Healthy www.mentalhealthy.co.uk.. She has been a guest on live radio programmes including the BBC London Breakfast show with Nick Ross and the LBC Breakfast Programme with Nick Ferrari. She has also spoken and at conferences and community and counselling services  on issues around sexual abuse and relationships.

Self help book, New Shoes

She has also written a self help book for survivors called ‘New Shoes’ published by Lion Hudson which has been well received by Survivors and Counsellors.

Into the Light & Take Action Counselling

Rebecca writes all the material for Into The Light, Co-ordinates all the Into The Light Groups, Workshops and clients and is a Workshop Facilitator and a Seminar Leader and Trainer. Rebecca has also founded a counselling service focusing on relationships, singleness and new mothers called www.takeactioncounselling.co.uk and has been nominated for Cosmopolitan Magazine Campaigner Of The Year Award. Rebecca is a Director of Into The Light Community Interest Company.


Nicky Pallis

Has a BA in Psychology and later studied for a Diploma in Counselling at Thames Valley University. She specialised in working with teenagers and women affected by domestic violence. As well as counselling Nicky works for Islington Council as a Family Group Conference Co-ordinator. Nicky is a Director of Into The Light Community Interest Company.


Rachel Sigrist

Rachel is a Workshop Facilitator and one to one Counsellor. She joined the team in 2022 and she brings experience as a Counsellor for Sutton Women’s Centre working with women who have experienced sexual and domestic violence. She has also worked in the past in a rehab. She has qualified as a counsellor from Lambeth College and now works in private practice. She is a Registered Member of BACP.

Into The Light holds to all BACP and ACC ethics.
